Primary duty is the development of personal lines insurance proposals, and subsequent submission of insurance applications to insurers.
Client data is collected by sales agents and captured on standardized agency “quote” forms, along with key insurance coverage specifications and other instructions. A Personal Lines Rating Specialist then utilizes a set of rating and informational tools, as well as company guides and underwriting manuals, to prepare quote comparisons from all applicable insurance companies represented by the Agency. The Personal Lines Rating Specialist will then select the best options that satisfy the sales agent’s instructions, and provide a proposal to the sales agent for presentation. If the sales agent is successful, the Personal Lines Rating Specialist will then prepare all paperwork for the agent, and subsequently submit all information to the selected insurance company(s) to complete the sales process.
A Personal Lines Rating Specialist will have minimal direct customer contact. However, as this position is a sales- track position, good people skills and sales aptitude are important.
Training is provided for all necessary skills except those that are “required”.
High school diploma or G.E.D.
Proficient with Internet Explorer
Competent with website navigation and data entry
Proficient with Microsoft Windows 7
Competent with Microsoft Word
Reasonable proficiency in typing
Good organizational and communication skills
Able to multi-task
Some college experience
Experience with ACS2000 or similar comparative rating software
Experience with Microsoft Outlook
Experience with Microsoft Excel
Experience with AMS360
Prior experience in insurance industry
Possess an active Michigan Property & Casualty Producer license
Prior experience in comparable position
